Storytelling through poetry & prose

The art of storytelling through poetry has been around, in many cultures, oral and written for centuries. You have only to look at the roots of some of our older poetry forms, ghazal fascinates me historically, to dive into a nerdy research adventure. Today, poetry has branched into many forms, creatively evolving at speed. The rise of lyrics in popular music has spawned earworms and the words to soundtracks of our lives.

As the written word flourished, so did prose. Storytelling is rooted in our DNA. Communicating events, advice, wisdom, and how-to information was once central to man's survival. Let's face it, we have always loved information and entertainment. The rise of the internet proves it. But, we are still obsessed with our books. Thank goodness for us scribblers.

My latest written effort is a combination of poetry, reflections and family stories. Musings from my Manuka doesn't feature my ghazal labours, but the book is an accumulated collection of life events and travel, basted in olive oil.

I hope people enjoy my storytelling. (Even the ones who are desperate for me to finish Book Four of the Spirit Voyager Series). I decided to put the eBook out with the printed version. It's great to gift books immediately and not worry about postage, damage or getting lost in customs. That doesn't mean you shouldn't buy one from your local shop. What did we do without bookstores? Owning our literary treasures is a recent pleasure, formerly reserved for the rich and the church. Indulge and bathe in poems and stories for the holidays I say.
